The Alpha 200 is built around keeping dog information easy to follow when you have more than one collar in the field. Up to 20 compatible dog devices and handhelds can be active at once, with compatible collars providing location updates as often as every 2.5 seconds. Pro View Compass gives you a quick view of each dog's direction and distance, while dog lists and group management make it easier to organise different dogs without rebuilding your setup each time.

Tracking range can reach up to 14.5 km with compatible dog devices, although actual range depends on the connected collar, terrain and other conditions affecting the radio link.

Tracking, Training and Mapping in One Handheld

The 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen gives you a clear view of maps and dog data, while six physical buttons provide another way to work with frequently used controls. When paired with a compatible training-enabled Garmin collar, the Alpha 200 supports momentary and continuous stimulation, 18 stimulation levels, tone and vibration. Tracking-only collars provide location tracking without those training functions.

Navigation is handled with preloaded TopoActive mapping, GPS and Galileo satellite positioning, a barometric altimeter and a tilt-compensated 3-axis electronic compass. BirdsEye satellite imagery can also be downloaded directly to the handheld, while the microSD card slot supports additional compatible mapping.

Ready for Long Days Outside

The Alpha 200 uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which is replaceable and is rated for up to 20 hours of use. The handheld also carries an IPX7 water rating; meaning it can withstand incidental exposure to water at a depth of up to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes.

Garmin Explore connectivity lets you pair the Alpha 200 with a compatible smartphone to work with dog tracking information, tracks, routes and waypoints. Unlike the Alpha 200i, this Alpha 200 model does not include inReach satellite messaging or SOS capability.
