Glass and Range Through One Optic

The Ranger HD 3000 puts 10x42 binocular viewing and laser ranging into the same unit. Once you have found what you are looking at, you can take a range reading through the binocular display instead of switching to a separate handheld rangefinder. Vortex rates the system to approximately 2740 m on reflective targets, 1645 m on trees and 1370 m on deer.

Its HD optical system uses select glass elements and fully multi-coated lenses, while the red OLED display is designed to remain readable in low-light conditions. This keeps the optical and ranging sides of the binocular working together rather than treating the rangefinder as an add-on.

Ranging Modes for Changing Terrain

Horizontal Component Distance (HCD) mode gives you an angle-compensated horizontal distance when ranging across slopes, while Line of Sight (LOS) mode shows the actual straight-line distance to the target. Scan mode provides continuous readings while you pan across an area.

Normal mode returns the strongest range result for general use. First mode prioritises the nearest return, which is useful when the object you want to range is in front of larger or more reflective objects, while Last mode prioritises the farthest return when ranging beyond foreground brush, trees or other obstacles.

Ready for Field Use

The Ranger HD 3000 is nitrogen purged and O-ring sealed for waterproof and fogproof performance, with Vortex also rating the body as shockproof. ArmorTek protects the exterior lens surfaces from scratches, oil and dirt, while rubber armour surrounds the binocular body. The binoculars are also tripod adaptable when used with a compatible tripod adapter.
