An "SS rune" K98k refers to a rare World War II German Karabiner 98k rifle stamped with a single SS/Sig rune. Most of these authentic contract rifles were produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch (using the 'BNZ' factory code,) some components were assembled at the Gusen camp subcamp of Mauthausen for SS contract of 1943.

Here is an incredibly rare SS K98 that was brought back by a local veteran to the USA and purchased by most recent owner in 2014. This is a TEXTBOOK example of a 1943 Steyr single rune K98, assembled for the elite SS units. Most of these that come up on the market today are either faked or are Russian captures with all mismatched numbers. This is due to the fact that most SS units fought in the east against the Russians.
