Level IV (4) is the highest rating of personal body armor available. Level IV will stop pistol rounds and rifle rounds, including a direct shot from a 30 caliber AP bullet.

• Material: AL203+PE (a combination of aluminium / ceramic & PE which is a polyethylene thermoplastic)
This combination creates a lightweight but strong armour plate that is a strong contender and alternative against plain steel armour.
PE or Polyethylene is essentially thermoplastic. Polyethylene armor is made by bonding unidirectional Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Fibers over the High Density Polyethylene sheet. Such sheets are place in mold, cut to shape, and compressed under high pressure and heat, which results to a cohesive hard armor plate. These plates take advantage of friction caused by a bullet’s spin. The friction melts the polyethylene and adheres to the round. When stopped, the polyethylene re-hardens and cools down.
Ceramic armor plates were put to use in operation Desert Storm to protect the British Challenger Tanks which reported very little resulting damage from enemy fire. After the application of ceramic plating to personal armor, its benefits were clearly visible.
