How did we start?
GUN CITY started in 1978 when David & Betsy Tipple purchased “Reloading Technical Services” that was located at 95 Manchester street; a 47 sqm store.David is a keen Hunter & trapshooter, starting off his early days buying & selling firearms where he could. He jumped at the opportunity to own his own gun store & later remaned it to "GUN CITY" in 1979. David believed in selling great product with excellent service which we strive to do with our team across the stores to this day.
Our Growth & Locations

From 95 Manchester Street Gun City has moved to bigger stores to accomadate the growing stock & variety we had. We briefly moved to 211 high street a 1000sqft store from 1980-1982. From there we moved to the "drive in bussines centre" at 280 Cashel Street store, measuring a whooping 3000sqft where we claimed the No.1 Gun Store in new Zealnend in 1984. From Cashel Street we moved to our famed 236 Barbadoes Street store with 7000sqft of space in 1988. An incredable growth from Dave & Betsy's first 500sqft store in 10 years.

In 2009 we moved to our currently megastore, 484 Cranford Street Papanui, now having 15,000 sqft of space we have firearms all across our walls instore always full with a wide variety of firearms from From air rifles, rimfires, centrefire & shotguns;
