Sporting clays shoots, a great opportunity to get ready for duck shooting

Our clay shoots are a perfect opportunity to go out and get your eye in for the duck season! If you turn up at the club, you will be shooting a round of usually between 60 to 100 targets. The club sets up simulated bird flying, which is called sporting clays. You just need to take your gun, hearing and eye protection. Your firearm needs to be over 26.5 inches to be included in the shoot. You pay the entry fee. This covers the Clay targets and you can buy ammo there or bring ammo that you would like to use. For ammunition being shot on the day, Clay target rounds are usually #7.5 at 28 grams.

​When you arrive, park at the car park and head into the main building where there will be a sign up desk. From there you will be put into squads and given a schedule for the day. There will be prizes which will differ at the clubs and there may be spot prizes or prizes for the position that you finished. Don't worry about being a new person at the club. Clubs love new members and you can ask the club managers there if you have any questions and they will help you out. Spectators are welcome in the club rooms and there are toilets on site. Some clubs have food, but you can also bring your food to the day.
