CZ 457 SERIES - A NEW GENERATION OF MODERN RIMFIRE RIFLES

The CZ 457 series offers exceptional user comfort due to its easy, fast and reliable operation, even with a mounted riflescope. For maximum safety, it comes with a push-to-fire safety on the right side of the receiver, striker status indicator and a separate bolt extractor control. Shooting accuracy is ensured with its adjustable trigger mechanism that features low trigger pull weight and excellent travel, combined with a noticeably lighter striker and a new type of bedding. Other benefits include an extremely durable anti-corrosion finish on metal parts, easy change of caliber by users and reliable polymer magazines that are compatible with the previous generation of CZ rimfire rifles.

A highly precise model with a special stock made from premium walnut. The heavy, cold hammer forged match-grade barrel in 22 LR caliber is equipped with a MATCH chamber. Thanks to this feature, and all other improvements in the new CZ 457 series, this model guarantees 15 mm groups at a distance of 50 m.

The advantages of the CZ 457 can be divided into three main areas:

Safety first
Today, the prevailing way of operating long firearms is the so-called positive safety which also features on the CZ 457 guns in the form of a lever on the right-hand side of the receiver. The safety is released by moving the lever forward, exposing a red dot on the side of the receiver that indicates that the rifle is ready to fire. A new element in CZ rimfire rifles is the striker status indicator, which visually and by touch shows the status of the striker mechanism: when the striker is cocked, a small red indicator protrudes from the rear of the bolt. An additional benefit for safer handling is the separate bolt extractor control on the left side of the receiver. It is therefore not necessary to depress the trigger at all when stripping the gun for basic maintenance. Last but not least, once again in keeping with the current preferences of most shooters, the CZ 457 guns allow the bolt to be opened and extracted with the safety on.

Improved accuracy
In general, CZ rimfire rifles are highly accurate, however, the truth is that the design legacy of the CZ 452 ZKM limited the options to modify the trigger mechanism parameters. CZ has already managed to solve this problem in several variants of the CZ 455 family. As a result, the company has introduced a new trigger mechanism for the CZ 457 family. It allows the user to adjust the trigger pull weight within a very favourable range of 8 to 15 N, the trigger travel may be adjusted between 0.5-7 mm. Basically, the shooter has the option to use the gun for ordinary training as well as a target special in its category. One element which is often overlooked but which plays an important role in accuracy is the weight of the striker. In comparison with previous models, the weight of CZ 457 rimfire rifle strikers has been reduced by more than 60%, resulting also in a faster strike and at the same time less shock when fired. Where stocks are concerned, there has been a great improvement in all long guns from CZ, which has also been reflected in the new rimfire rifles. For the CZ 457 series, CZ has developed a new type of bedding which allows constant tightening of the screws in the barrelled action within the stock. Improvements have also been made with ergonomics, this new series therefore has an extremely comfortable and reliable grip.

Improved user properties
In the past few years, CZ has considerably advanced its technologies, such as procedures for the surface treatment of metal parts. The company’s new products, including the new CZ 457 series, are thus treated with one the most durable anti-corrosion surface treatments on the market. In addition, users will undoubtedly appreciate the improved trigger travel, which has been achieved by redesigning the receiver and the bolt. Another advantage is the notably reduced turning angle of the bolt handle (30° less than previous CZ models). Thanks to this, the gun enables comfortable handling even with a riflescope as well as the ability to fit scopes with large ocular bells with lower ring heights. While focusing on this generational upgrade, CZ has also taken the opportunity to incorporate upgraded smaller parts, such as the trigger guard, magazine frame, rear part of the bolt, new Weaver rail interface, etc.

As has already been mentioned, the important benefits of the previous CZ rimfire rifle generation have been retained: the modular system allowing an easy replacement of barrels and changing of calibres, and compatibility of the barrels and magazines with the CZ 455 series.

457 Features:

  • Push-to-fire safety: The silent, push-to-fire safety allows natural and intuitive control of the firearm with a design that engages when pulled back to the shooter and released when pushed away from the shooter, thereby contributing to safe and comfortable handling.
  • Separate bolt removal control: The bolt can be extracted from the receiver without the need to pull the trigger. A separate and easily accessible control allows for the convenient and complete removal of the bolt for cleaning.
  • Open and remove bolt even with safety engaged: The bolt can be opened and removed even with the safety engaged, so you can safely check the condition of the firearm or unload it without having to release the safety.
  • Striker status indicator: The indicator features reliable detection of a cocked firing mechanism and can be checked both visually and by touch, which is advantageous when shooting in dim light or at night.
  • Adjustable trigger mechanism: The adjustable trigger mechanism allows you to precisely tailor the firearm to your needs. Trigger pull is preset to 12 N at the factory, but it can be easily adjusted from 8–15 N. Trigger travel can also be adjusted from 0.5–5 mm.
  • Lighter striker for increased speed and reduced vibration during firing: Striker weight has been reduced by 38% compared to the previous model, thereby preventing even the smallest vibration that could affect shooting accuracy. The striker is also modified for resistance to dry training.
  • New type of bedding for constant tightening of screws in stock: The bedding significantly contributes to long-term shooting accuracy and stability of the mechanism’s attachment in the stock. It largely eliminates expansion of the wood during temperature fluctuations, therefore ensuring the rifle remains correctly sighted-in for longer periods of time and allowing you to shoot extremely accurately.
  • 60 degree angle of bolt handle: Bolt rotation has been shortened to a 60° angle, which allows for convenient, smooth and quick reloading of the firearm, especially when optical sights are mounted.
  • New ergonomic stocks: The CZ 457 rimfire rifle series offers a wide range of stocks. The various options, shapes and materials have a strong emphasis on ergonomics, comfort and convenience of the shooter. You are sure to find one that fits you best.
  • Easy barrel replacement for quickly changing calibers: The improved modular system of the CZ 457 allows for the use of barrels in various calibers from the previous CZ 455 series, as well as barrel replacement with the use of CZ mini-sets. You can completely customize the firearm to your needs.
  • Cold hammer forged barrel: The demanding, precise and expensive method of cold forging the barrel directs the flow of fibers, which positively affects the barrel's accuracy and service life.
  • MATCH chamber on selected models: Selected 22 LR caliber models, such as the CZ 457 MTR, have a MATCH chamber at the very edge of the CIP tolerance. Precision manufacturing and low tolerances provide an impressive accuracy of 1 MOA, depending on the ammunition used.
